Hello All,
It's been a while since I've posted anything so I wanted to post a link to some photos.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/124392320@N03/albums/72157681697083192
This summer I traveled to Chama to attend the 315 charter. I'm slowly editing my photos, but here's what I have so far.
Hope everyone is doing well.
Thanks,
Blake

Before the National Narrow Gauge Convention this year, I had time to shoot a Maintenance of Way Train on my Dad's layout. Here's the result. Thanks for watching!

Well my dad, Barry Bogs, finished the San Juan Passenger Train several months back and i've been aiming to video it for the several months. Well life finally got out of the way for a couple of hours yesterday so I finally completed the video. Please excuse the focusing problems. This video was a learning curve for me as it was the first time i've actually recorded models with my camera.

We will be on tour for the National Narrow Gauge Convention this year. Please feel free to come visit us!
Thanks,

Hi John,
Congratulations on the progress!
If you haven't already, I would try to contact members of the Lone Star Region in the Dallas area. I know of several members that are in HOn3.
Thanks,
Blake

Layouts And Layout Construction And Design / Chuck Lind's O/On3 Layout
« on: March 02, 2015, 10:14:10 AM »
It's not HOn3 but it is a great logging layout! On February 28, 2015, I was honored to join Chuck Lind as he received his last MMR certificate. The following photos were photos taken that day.

I am installing a control panel next week and will hopefully be finished with all the track work on the lower level by May 1st. I will post more photos once I completely finish the track work. Btw, I am planning on being open for the NG convention, so please come see me if you come!
Enjoy,
Blake

Check with the "Loco Doc" aka Wayne Weiss. Although it might take a long time to get your locomotive back, he can take a locomotive that runs extremely bad at best run fantastically!

HOn3 General Discussion Forum / Petticoat Junction Open House
« on: November 06, 2014, 10:42:40 AM »
Hello All,
My name is Blake Bogs and I am the coordinator of the Petticoat Junction Model Railroad Fellowship Group. Each year we have an annual "Open House" where our members bring their current projects. This year our Open House is on November 7th, 2014, at Spring Creek BBQ from 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM. We would like to invite everyone to come and join us for this open house.
Our group was started in 2004 with the intention of having a group of friends come together each month to eat barbecue and talk trains. Since 2004, our club has become so much more! We now have a group of members who possess a great wealth of information about model railroading. If you have any questions, someone in our group can probably answer them. Most months we have monthly clinics, and monthly movies preceding and following the clinics. We also have open house 1-2 times a year, and so much more!

We meet the first Friday of the month at:
Spring Creek Barbecue
4220 West FM 1960
(east of Stuebner-Airline)
Houston, TX 77068

Normally we meet at 6:00 PM

We hope y'all will come and join us for our open house meeting. If you have any questions email us at:
Petticoatjunctionrr@gmail.com

In addition to Petticoat Junction's Open House, several Houston Area Layout's including Barry Bogs' Colorado and Western Railroad, All Points North Model Railroad Club, and Tuffy Henderson's MTS Railroad are open this weekend.

You really can't go wrong with a lot of the layout's in Houston. The best HOn3 layouts in Houston are Jim Lemmond, Eddie Carroll, and Gil Freitag. Allow at least an 1-3 hours for Eddie's and Gil's. I guarantee you, you will not go home unsatisfied!
Enjoy,
Blake

HOn3 General Discussion Forum / NNGC 2015!
« on: September 23, 2014, 12:17:08 AM »
Just in case you haven't see the website yet for the National Narrow Gauge Convention in 2015, it is officially up! If you haven't heard, the convention will be in Houston!!!! My layout will hopefully be open and my dad's layout will most defiantly be open! Here's the link for the convention http://www.frolin.net/nngc/index.html and if you haven't see the preview video check it out at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYvciu1W6F8&list=UU1YjFVAfd4O1AhaUAajCaZg. It is 9 minutes long, but it's well worth it. The layouts on the video in order are Barry Bogs (Gn3/G) (My dad's layout), Craig Brantley's On3 Layout, Chuck Lind's On3 Layout, Paul Cezak's On3 Layout, Eddie Carroll's Incredible HO/HOn3 Layout (If you haven't been here, it's well worth the trip. 1 round trip on the HOn3 sections takes a good 3 hours going fast), Craig Raymond's Sn3 Layout, and last but certainly not least Gil Freitag's Incredible HO/HOn3 (Stoney Creek and Western Railroad).
I look forward to meeting and seeing a lot of y'all at the convention!
Thanks,
Blake Bogs

Layouts And Layout Construction And Design / Re: Layout design Help Needed

Ulrich,
Check out http://hon3forums.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=db111c7cb7dc0ddbbc015d98b9eaefb0&topic=312.0
You could change up the plan to fit your room. Instead of having it on a 4X8, split up the plan and maybe go around the wall? Maybe add some tracks, remove others.
Another track plan I absolute loved was the beer line (Model Railroader Jan, 2009). It's not Colorado/NM scenery but could be easily added.
Good luck with the track plan! Once you decide what you want, please post it.
Enjoy,
Blake

HOn3 General Discussion Forum / Re: Casting Resin Parts?
« on: September 01, 2014, 02:00:23 PM »
Hi Batey,
My dad casts most of his scratch built locomotives with urethane.  He will make a master, make a box using styrene sheets, then use rubber to make the mold. Once the mold is done, he will make the part using urethane. The manufacturer he buys the supplies from is silpak (http://www.silpak.com/products/urethplas.html).
The most extensive project he has done with casting is the F Unit project. Check it out on his website at www.cwrr.org.
The only problem I have seen is the smaller the scale, the more difficult it is to cast it. Since he is casting in G scale, he has had very few problems. I have cast several parts for myself in HO scale using his system. The hardest part is making the mold without mold lock.
If you have more questions, let me know.
Thanks,
Blake
Ps:My dad's layout will be open for the NNGC in 2015 in Houston! More info coming soon.......
