Now I came about another idea. For the first time I can incorporate my town Salina and staging yard Fiddletown. This way I can run trans and do some scenery at Esperanza and Cameo Canyon.

And I can take pictures.  :)

Very interesting. I think I would like the square engine house.
But you write about dual gauge. I can't see which tracks are standard, narrow or dual gauge tracks. Can you help please?

With my P&SL layout I will have a dual gauge turntable too.  :)

In the new room there's a reminiscence of the Silver Valley RR.
Now I run a coal train with helper.

Cool,

may  I add my Silver Creek

You can shorten the scissor tracks  and shift the crossing.

The room has got a painted backdrop. After the FREMO meeting in January I will start with construction. Until then, I will have to build quite a few dual gauge turnouts.

I need quite a few more turnouts for the staging yard. So I'm busy.
Here's a code 70 #6 turnout with adjacent transition track. My staging yad will be a loop!

Me too.  :)

And here's my HowTo.

No, the FAST TRACKS jigs are too expensive. I've built code 70 and code 55 turnouts. There're a few #8 turnouts and a crossing. The Fast Tracks jig comes into play when you build more than 10 turnouts from one type. I have to build quite a few dual turnouts, but those are different types. And a "normal" turnout is easy.  :)  You see my HowTo at my website.
I use the templates if available. For special trackwork like crossing or special curved turnouts I make my own drawing / template with AutoCAD. Then I glue the ties and solder rails. Always beginning with one rail (usually the straight one or similar) and use this rail as reference to all other rails. My tools are the H0 and H0n3 NMRA templates.

Here's a stack of turnouts for Esperanza. These are two code 70 turnouts, a #8 dual and a #6 standard turnout. And quite a few different code 55 turnouts, mostly dual.

Next will be code 70 ones for staging, all dual gauge.  :)

Compare a MicroTrain car with a Blackstone car. I think there's a difference! Thus the difference in price too.

Now I'm preparing the room for the backdrop.

and I'm soldering turnouts:

The dual gauge #8 code 70 is for staging yard.  :)

With my narrow gauge Silver Valley RR I have a lot of fun. But with modules it's hard to get any grades. So I came to the idea to build a permanent layout in this room. I've got the idea from an John Armstrong article in MR Jan 1962, "To Hardscrabble, the hard way: a track plan". I drew this plan for my 13' x 16' (4m x 5m) room. And I've made a few changes. Important, my staging yard is dual gauge. Narrow gauge trains run from staging to Esperanza and don't start at Esperanza.

Here's my draft for the lower level.

and the "upper" level.

Narrow gauge trains run from Pueblo (staging) via Esperanza, East Park, Wigley and Triple Divide to Hardscrabble or Golconda (upper staging). Between sessions you can use the wye to turn the trains.
Esperanza has a shed for loading goods from NG box cars to SG cars or v.v. Gondolas have to run to Pueblo for transfer loading.

Any suggestions?
