After a 20 year hiatus I've decided to take my old HOn3 layout out of storage and re-assemble it.  First couple of things I noticed is that things seem to have changed from CAB control to DCC and the Walthers catalogue has gone from over 1000 pages for just HO to a slimmer version for HO, N and Z scales.  What's happened to the hobby?

I've noticed that Graybeal has a couple of books on the ET&WNC and will probably get them.

One of the last resources for the Ten-wheelers that I know if was Train and Trooper who folded a couple of years back. Guess there is not much interest in them in the East.

Thanks for the info.

Happy modeling.

Michael and Charlie:

I don't know why there is so little newer activity on this forum, other than most HOn3 modelers are over on the HOn3 Narrow Gauger and HOn3 Narrow Gauge Modelers Facebook groups.

Charlie- I sent you a reply to your ET&WNC question, a few minutes ago.

Beautiful #315 photo album!

I was on the C&TS in early June, 2017 and got to see #315 making some excursion runs, at that time. Great locomotive.

Thanks for sharing,

Your search for info on the details of the ET&WNC 10 wheelers, should start with getting a copy of ..."Along the ET&WNC- The Ten Wheelers" written by Johhny Grabeal. It contains all you need to know about each locomotive as well as a section on modeling them in HOn3.

You also should pick the brains of those on the ET&WNC Fans, Facebook page.

10 Wheeler #12 is restored and operational at the Tweetsie amusement park in Blowing Rock, NC, Near Boone, NC. Box car #434 is restored and on display in Newton(Hickory), NC at the Southeastern Narrow Gauge & Shortline Museum.

Hope this helps...

Hi Michael

I just logged on a week or so ago. Asked a question and the silence made me wonder if anyone is alive on this forum.
At least there are two of us.

I am into the Eastern Narrow Gauge and getting psyched up to build a layout if I can get hold of some drawings of stuff I want to build.

Hope we haven't disturbed the deceased on here.

Seems as I'm several years too late in being able to get the drawings of these steamers. I managed to snag the MRR July 81 but it's lacking some vital dimensions. Short of going to Johnson City, TN where an actual layout exists, can anyone help?

My name is Ed and I have been interested in Narrow Gauge since the middle 40's.
I've not had much of a chance to build a layout with 20 years in the military and moving here and there. I've settled down in Columbia, TN now and hope to fill my 11 x 19 room with HO and Hon3 something on the order of those lines that ran through Johnson's Tank (Johnson City), Elizabethton and Cranberry North Carolina. At those places I could connect with the early Southern RR, Clinchfield and the ET&WNC.
I see where the rolling stock for the ET&WNC has withered, especially the steam power so hopefully someone will point me toward the design sheet for the 4-6-0 Mogul engines used on this line.

Hope to be here for a while and meet those still active on this forum.

Swap Meet / HOn3 brass car lot

This is a really large lot of brass all at once. But this is your chance to get a really good deal for the hon3 brass collector. All are new. Pacific traction Rio grande Southern has 2 small chips in the paint and is visible in picture. The rio grande passenger car has 1 coupler installed and the other is not but is in box. All of the others are new in the box and all havenít seen a track. These are nice pieces, and all of the Gramps tankers are different road numbers. Here is your chance at some brass. 550.00 I accept PayPal cashiers check and will be shipped priority with tracking and insured.
I canít post pics so pm me for pics.  There are a total of 10 cars and 3 are gramps tankers and 1 Undecorated tanker and cabooses.
