Dang!  Why is it so QUIET out there?

Seems that everyone is maintaining radio silence, but there has to be some HOn3 activity out there, somewhere in the distance...
Model & Kit Building/Bashing / Getting Tie Rods Parallel To Braces On Mine Kits
« Last post by Tux on September 21, 2018, 11:37:45 AM »
I'm currently building the Leaverite Mine from the old Caboose Hobbies Builders In Scale kit.  This is the 2nd kit now that has lots of tie rods directly under cross beams (the other was Campbell Scale's Chama Coaling Tower).  I've had trouble getting the tie rods to come out perfectly parallel to the cross ties.  Anyone out there have any tips on how to drill the holes on the uprights to get the tie rods parallel?

@Wild Bill 4620

Found this:  "Sam Bass sends a photo of one of several Tichy ore cars he modified for use on his HO narrow gauge Eureka Hill Railroad.  He changed out the Queen Posts and truss rods and moved the brake gear under the B end slope sheet. The cars ride on Bitter Creek Models T-94 Full Diamond Archbar HOn3 trucks."

I also saw a lot of hits on Google using 'Tichy 22' ore cars hon3'.

Also, you might be able to get away with using Blackstone HOn3 trucks, depending on availability.  Several online shops for these, here's one I use that is very reliable:

Now to grab some time to paint the track, and start with scenery and buildings.  Life gets in the way too often!
HOn3 General Discussion Forum / standard to narrow gauge conversions???

Hi Guys,
I am new here, but a long time Hon3 and HO standard gauge modeler in Las Vegas, NV. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on converting the Tichy 22' ore cars to Hon3. I have seen photos of such conversions on the Internet and I have spoken to Don Tichy and Sam at Kadee  and they could not offer much help on this matter. I am looking for info. on wheel size and wheelbase, and installing Kadee 714 couplers. Also, the queenposts may have to be changed out for shorter ones, any suggestions????
