Thank you both for posting pictures.

I would prefer a Y if I can manage.  Maybe the K-36 will need to be turned around "some other way".  My guess is the BS k-27's will negotiate an 18r with no problems.

FYI I'm using Anyrail to sketch the layout.  I've run out of "freebies" so I either need to buy the program or try another one.
For those who haven't used it, its pretty intuitive and easy to use.  There is no 3D rendering but I don't mind.

I have Cadrail 9 demo but tired of using it after a bit.

Bob,

I use XtrackCAD, it is easy to use once you get the hang of it and as you advance it will do some pretty cool things.  It doesn't support 3D rendering either but at the price of free who cares!  Also, pay attention to th little lessons that pop-up when you open the program and read the help/manual.

Bob,

I'd be willing to bet that your K-36 can handle 18" radius in a wye.  My Fuji does, you just lose some visual appeal but hey your turning, you could also just bump up to 19" or 20" radius.

Brandan, you might be right about the radius.  I believe my engine is an Overland made by MSM in Korea.  It didn't come with the original box but it looks just like the ones Overland sold.

I plan to add DCC etc and paint it.  Before doing that though I should put it on some 20r curves and see what happens.
