standard to narrow gauge conversions???
« on: September 06, 2018, 11:27:45 AM »
Hi Guys,
I am new here, but a long time Hon3 and HO standard gauge modeler in Las Vegas, NV. I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions on converting the Tichy 22' ore cars to Hon3. I have seen photos of such conversions on the Internet and I have spoken to Don Tichy and Sam at Kadee  and they could not offer much help on this matter. I am looking for info. on wheel size and wheelbase, and installing Kadee 714 couplers. Also, the queenposts may have to be changed out for shorter ones, any suggestions????

@Wild Bill 4620

Found this:  "Sam Bass sends a photo of one of several Tichy ore cars he modified for use on his HO narrow gauge Eureka Hill Railroad.  He changed out the Queen Posts and truss rods and moved the brake gear under the B end slope sheet. The cars ride on Bitter Creek Models T-94 Full Diamond Archbar HOn3 trucks."

I also saw a lot of hits on Google using 'Tichy 22' ore cars hon3'.

Also, you might be able to get away with using Blackstone HOn3 trucks, depending on availability.  Several online shops for these, here's one I use that is very reliable:  http://store.sbs4dcc.com/search.aspx?find=blackstone+trucks
